Nabeela Arbee-Kalidas
Specialist Anaesthesiologist
As a clinician, I’ve had opportunities to work at the largest academic hospitals in Western Cape, Gauteng and North West as well as observerships at University College London, United Kingdom and at Brown University, United States of America.
As an academic, I completed my undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and postgraduate speciality training at the University of Witwatersrand as well as a Diploma in Primary Emergency Care and Diploma in Anaesthesia.
As a researcher, I completed two Masters degrees (University College of London and University of Witwatersrand) looking at the role of preoperative exercise in improving postoperative outcomes following cancer surgery.
My goal is to use my ever-growing knowledge with ever-evolving technology to facilitate safe surgeries with good outcomes and happy patients. Being a source of comfort to my patients during a vulnerable time in their lives is a privilege that I do not take lightly. Hippocrates said “wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity” and I am lucky enough to truly love my job.
I am also a mum to two boys and in my free time I enjoy playing with my many pets, gardening and weightlifting.
